BIO

Azwan is an award winning writer/director, editor (and occasional actor) who grew up in Amherst, MA where he spent his teenaged years at Amherst Media, the local public access station. There he learned how to produce skits, short films and music videos, channeling his ‘Jackass’ influenced energy into the creative arts. Moving to Los Angeles, CA in 2014 he landed a video editor position at the NBCU Digital Lab. In 2021 he then secured a full-time position at film/TV website IndieWire as video producer/editor. There he worked on podcasts (Screen Talk, Toolkit), live events (Honors, The Future of Filmmaking, Sundance Studio), sponsored content (Awards Spotlight, Craft Considerations), in-person studio interviews, sizzle reels, news stories and social content. Azwan’s work has been instrumental to the IndieWire sales department generating much enthusiasm from companies such as Netflix, Disney, Hulu and A24. More recently he has worked on many projects including Reach TV’s Ticket to Success series.

Azwan has also written, directed, produced, edited and acted in 3 short films: Reason for Leaving, Farmer Ed (an official selection of 16 film festivals, winning multiple awards) and Vinyl Thief which has yet to be released. His films have a mix of heart, humor, visually striking worlds, eccentric characters and a unique worldview.
